Yes, Leapster2 is fully compatible with Leapster and L-Max games. Leapster2 games will also work with Leapster and L-Max.

Will My First LeapPad® books work with a regular LeapPad® player?

No. My First LeapPad books will not work on the LeapPad, LeapPad Pro™ or Quantum Pad™ players. Nor will LeapPad books work on a My First LeapPad player. The books’ sizes and shapes are different.

Will Leapster cartridges work with my Leapster L-Max?
Answer
The full Leapster library works on the Leapster L-Max handheld for learning on the go. Many Leapster titles also project to the TV when your Leapster L-Max is plugged into the TV. For quality and licensing reasons, a few Leapster titles will not project to the TV and can only work in handheld mode. They are:
